Hugh is a Patron of Silver Memories, the national Australian broadcasting service for the aged — thus joining a select group of Patrons who have included Jerry Lewis, Dame Vera Lynn and Pat Boone. Silver Memories is a nostalgic radio station broadcasting 1940s-70s music 24/7 Australia-wide to residential aged care homes and hospitals via satellite. Silver Memories patron Dame Vera Lynn at age 103, led a radio sing-along of her greatest wartime hits with aged care residents all over Australia. Hugh’s fellow patron is Dame Quentin Bryce, former Queensland Governor and former Australian Governor-General. “Silver Memories reconnects older Australians to the lives they have lived via the music they remember,” Hugh said. “Nothing brings the mind alive more than hearing a hit song from your youth. Silver Memories has been a boon to the aged, particularly during the Covid virus lockdowns.”
